The quarantine can be a boring time, people have been forced out of their daily routines. Work has been cancelled or if you're lucky you're working from home, schools (while on break) are continuing at home. Here at Amplify, we're putting all our effort into our socials. Which for me means 'doing research' and by that, I mean playing video games and figuring out which one is the best one to play during the quarantine. So I've compiled 5 games that I've decided are the best fun during this period.

RETRO GAMES
That's right! We're kicking this list off with childhood favourites. If you're lucky enough to own a console from your childhood days, be it a GameCube, PS2, or Xbox Classic. Chuck on some nostalgia-filled fun with your favourite games of yore. Some suggestions for GameCube are Paper Mario, Super Smash Bros. Melee, and Super Mario Sunshine. The PS2 has classics like the Ratchet and Clank series, Kingdom Hearts, or Crash Bandicoot. The Xbox has a wicked selection, some of which include Fable, Ninja Gaiden, and how could I almost forget the Halo series. But it's your childhood.
ANIMAL CROSSING: NEW HORIZONS
The latest mellow, chill, veg-out life simulator. It's been giving a lot of people peace of mind and it's definitely helped me cope with being stuck inside all day. Due to its multiplayer capabilities, you can play with people locally, via a wireless connection, or even online. Meaning it's a fun family game that everyone can get behind! Fly to a deserted island and meet Tom Nook the entrepreneur tanooki who gives you a tent and lets you start your island life. You can play with up to 3 other people on the same console, or you can play with up to 7 others over different consoles. Create your island and live in harmony.
DOOM: ETERNAL
RIP AND TEAR!!! Peaceful island living not your style? Getting really PISSED OFF at isolation life? Just want to blow some demons up and release that RAGE inside? Doom: Eternal is for you! The latest instalment in the super shooty, blow up bonanza is more of the same cathartic demon demolition as previous titles in the series. I would be lying if said that I didn't have a grin on my face defending the earth from the demon onslaught.
BOARD GAMES
Okay. So Doom might be a bit full-on for some of the younger people in our audience. So if you're looking for some good old family time, clean up the table, tell the kids to sit down and get ready to play some classic family board games. Crack out the Monopoly, the Cluedo, or if you're a bit more alternative something more modern, a favourite type of board game of mine is Dice and Draw, its a fun style of game where the dice determine what each player draws. A good example of this is Railroad Ink, where you roll the dice to see what tracks you get, then you must draw the tracks to make a large railway system. The winner of the game has the longest railway, and get the most bonus points.
DUNGEONS & DRAGONS
Hoo Boy. The big mama of nerd-dom. Originally created by Gary Gygax to write bedtime stories for his son, Dungeons & Dragons or D&D is one of the most popular tabletop games. The runner of the game the (DM) Dungeon Master weaves a story for the players to experience and play. I've been playing D&D with my friends, I play a Human Ranger with a Spanish accent, Simon Juarez. Our party is trying to find the evil group trying to incite civil war in the city the story is based in. D&D can take a while to set up, however, lots of mini-games are available for free online. So grab some dice (or download a dice roller) create some characters and dive into the magical world of Dungeons & Dragons
So these are the games I play. I hope it helps you decide what to play during the isolation to beat the boredom and come out of the quarantine with little to no worries about the time "wasted" playing games all day... Mum...
