The Top Three Greatest Rappers of the Modern Era

There's some greats, but who's number 1?

Cutting down an ever-growing list of rappers in the modern-era is never an easy task, let alone naming our top 3, but we've taken a crack at it.

Honourable mentions: Jay-Z, Eminem. Lil Wayne, Snoop Dog, Kendrick Lamar, J.Cole.

3. Travis Scott

Straight up! The 28 year-old rapper has sky-rocketed to success in the last 5 years, cleaning up awards including Billboards "Most Streamed Song" with 'Sicko Mode' in 2019, a song which finished 3rd in the 2018 Triple J Hottest 100. Nominations for Grammy's galore including best rap album in 2019 for his most successful album, 'Astroworld', which included collaborations from other successful rappers such as Juice WRLD, Drake and Lil Baby, just to name a few. We think we've only just seen the start of Travis Scott's bound for success career.

2. Drake

Otherwise known as Aubrey Graham, it feels as though Drake has been around for an eternity now, with more than a truckload of success, it's hard to see when Drake will ever put up average music. Drake has the record for the most charted songs with 209, he's claimed four Grammy awards, including one for his 2017 hit "Hotline Bling" which won 'Best Rap Song' for 2018 as well as 'Best Rap/Sung Performance'. Drake has his very own Wikipedia page for his awards , so, yeah, he sits quiet comfortably at number two.

1. Kanye West

Was it ever going to be anyone else? The man that regards HIMSELF as the best human being of all time takes out our number one spot. The recently turned billionaire hasn't strayed away from a few controversy's in his time, including arguably his biggest one with singer, Taylor Swift, after he interrupted her VMA acceptance speech in 2009. 21 Grammy's from 69 nominations has Kanye West in second position for most Grammy awards behind Jay-Z, who we can only suspect will be overtaken in the near future as "Yeezus" continues to produce hits.
