The year has slowed right down, it’s a perfect time to turn up your speakers and dissolve into some noise.
I’ve compiled a small list of albums that I have personally enjoyed from this year thus far, hopefully, I can put at least one reader onto something fresh.
This list is in no order and is entirely my subjective opinion let us know what your bumping over this quiet period.
Man Alive – King Krule
Man alive is King Krules most refined album to date, I always find myself coming back to this album.
This album has a heavier emphasis on the instrumental and production side compared to his previous work which core focus was previously on Archie Marshalls iconic vocal delivery, this new balance between vocals and instrumental gives the music an extra layer of dreariness and psychedelia with both sounds blending into each other beautifully.
Man Alive is an emotional, surreal, poetic and lonely experience it’s a fantastic blend of genres.
Rating: 8/10
Genre: Art-rock, Post-punk

Cenizas – Nicolas Jaar
Cenizas means ashes in Spanish the best way to describe this project is a faraway universe Nicolas Jaar has created from an array of unearthly yet wonderful sounds.
The album is breathtaking every song segues into each other smoothly with distant sombre vocal delivery and a huge variety of sounds keeping me hooked through the entirety of the album waiting for what’s next.
Cenizas is haunting, romantic, bleak, mysterious, and cold all at the same time its an album about healing whatever healing might mean.
Rating: 8/10
Genre: Ambient, Electronic

Circles – Mac Miller
Circles is my favourite Mac Miller project.
It’s sad knowing he won’t be around anymore to bless the earth with more beautiful music.
With his death so sudden the albums sad themes hit just that little bit harder.
I was sceptical of this album initially thinking that it would be another disrespectful posthumous release like many seen in these past few years but to my Circles is far from a cash-grab.
The album is highly introspective, lonely, mellow with sombre vocals and sad production complementing each other well like bread and butter, it’s clear Mac wasn’t in a great place writing Circles.
This is the best musical send off any Mac Miller fan could have wished for.
Rating: 8/10
Genre: Neo-Soul, Pop rap

These are some of the albums I’ve been listening to over this quiet period.
