As COVID-19 rears it's ugly head, forcing us all into the comfort of our own homes for the foreseeable future, there is going to come a time when you have burned through all resistance and finally cave into the arms of a Netflix series.

Once you've finished painting rocks and coloured in your adult colouring books, there's going to be a hole only a Netflix binge can fill and that is where I come in.
I have already succumbed to the comfy and warm addiction that is a series on Netflix, and thus, I shall lay my wisdom below, to take the leg work out of finding a series worth binging.
Whether you're a murder documentary enthusiast or a closeted reality tv show watcher, I've got you covered.
1. Tiger King
Tiger King is all the rage right now and for good reason. This train wreck of a documentary, filmed over a space of 4 years, is so far out of this world you can't look away. From gay cowboys who bread tigers and have two husbands at any one time. To a hippy trying to save said tigers, all while there's a feud brewing between all parties involved. Guns, hillbillies, exotic animals and a murder trial, this 7 part documentary will have you locked away for an entire day if you let it.
2. The Good Place
Jameela Jamil, Kristen Bell and Ted Danson, enough said. This show took me a few episodes to get sucked in, but holy crap, once you're in, you're in. This was one of the most clever, understated shows I have watched to date. It's not heavy, but it's also not too sugary. It's the perfect balance of comedy and intricate plot twists and boy, are there a lot of plot twists. I think I cried when the final episode aired. Based on heaven (known as the good place in this particular show) and hell (the bad place), this show will have you laughing and on the edge of your seat the entire time.
3. Schitt$ Creek
Okay okay, this show you have to bite the bullet and just get through the first few eps because I promise you it's worth it. This cast is unmatched, if you're old enough to remember American Pie, then get yourself on Netflix immediately as Jim's Dad is one of the main characters and so is his hilarious (real-life) son. This show is, dare I say, hilarious. In a time like now, an escape from reality is what we all need and I can assure you that is what you will get when watching Schitt$ Creek. Just bloody watch it will ya.
4.Shameless
As I write this list, I am finding myself realising I was reluctant to watch so many of these series, but once I did, there was no turning back and Shameless was no exception. My addiction to Shameless spanned over the course of years. It was an intense love affair with a very large family with an unfortunate upbringing, based in a very low socio-economic part of America. The dramas of this show are addicting, and the love/hate relationships with the characters is intoxicating. A must self-isolation watch.
5.YOU
Any gossip girl fans out there? Well strap yourself in because Dan is back on our screens, as scrumptious as ever but not quite how you may remember him. Well, on second thought, they do bare slight resemblance in their stalker ways. This is dare I say, the best tv show I think I have ever watched. This is a show that will have you from start, all the way to the end of the second season. It will have you yelling at characters and rooting for unethical people- but that's the whole point. How much does our society let a good looking white male get away with? WATCH IT GOD DAMNIT.
6. Love is Blind
I don't want to hear your excuses, Love is Blind is worth the hype. Married at First Sight can get in the bin because there's a new player in town. This American reality tv show where people meet each other and decide to MARRY, yes, marry one another without ever seeing them until they are engaged. It's surprisingly heartwarming, it's intense, it's a lot of yelling, tears, and backstabbing but don't even pretend you're above that. It's so good and while your there, check out The Circle on Netlix too.
7.Jane The Virgin
Okay I'll admit this is potentially the most reluctant I've been to watch a tv show, it's corny telenovela production made me cringe in the beginning, I almost turned away, but I am so glad I didn't. This show is sugary in all the right places but it's extremely dramatic elements bring it it's addictiveness. I mean, the main character gets artificially inseminated by her long time crush's sister, WITH HIS BABY. All while his step Mum continually tries to kill him and to make things even worse, the step mum is sleeping with his sister. NEED I SAY MORE?!?!?
8. Dynasty
Ever wondered how the other half lives? Well, I mean, this probably isn't it, but it's fun to pretend. Plot twist, after plot twist, this show is intelligent enough for the older crowd but dramatic enough for the gen z's. Never have I watched a show with a more beautiful cast either, I'm not sure who I'm most attracted to... it changes daily.
9. Don't Fuck with Cats

Do not fuck with cats, holy shit do not. With the risk of sounding hyperbolic, this documentary had me not eating for an entire two days, only up until I was past the videos of small kittens being tortured (I advise closing your eyes unless you're a cold-hearted psycho). However, there was something about this doco that pulled me in, maybe it was the need to be in on whatever pop culture thing is trending via memes, or maybe it was the intense hunt that random strangers online endured over months to find the man responsible. It is equally terrifying and fascinating. Trust me, do not fuck with cats.
10. CHEER
Okay, I did not realise Bring it On was happening in real life until I saw this documentary/reality tv show. People are really out here breaking their bodies for cheerleading, it's insane. I promise you by the end of this series, when they are on the matt at Daytona, you will be screaming their names at the top of your lungs and biting your lip. You will also be social media stalking all involved.
11. How to Get Away with Murder
Okay, this one is a little longer than the rest, but, even more reason to binge! I was HOOKED on this show for again, years. Whereas my little sister binged the entire series in a month, it's that good. Intelligent, diverse, sexy, this show has it all. I could describe this show in two words, sex and scandal. Who doesn't love both? That's right, go watch it ASAP and tell me who you are lusting after.
12.Black Mirror
Now, this maaaay or may not be the time to watch this show, considering the state of planet earth and society right now. However, if you are someone who can handle the existential crisis you will have after watching this show, go right ahead. With every episode completely different, you have the luxury of skipping ones you dislike. Do yourself a favour and skip the first episode of the first season, also the bike one?? (If you know, you know). I can't really explain this show, you just need to watch it, k?
13. Green Leaf
Sex, scandal, money and church. Need I say more.
14. Dirty John
Okay, so you're not into sugary shows, you want the gritty stuff. Well firstly, Black Mirror is for you. But secondly, so is Dirty John. Based on a true story, this TVs series is one of the most frustrating pieces of production I have watched. Imagine your Mum falls in love with a stranger and moves in with him within a few weeks and then he tries to take all her money and murder her children? Well, this was the reality of this family and it is JUICY.
15. Grace and Frankie
Okay now I can see how you may be reluctant to watch this if you are under 50, but I implore that you do! This tv show has made me laugh more times than I can count. It's light, it's sugary and it's absolutely hilarious. Never have I wanted to be old and retired with my best friend more.
So there you have it, if there is not at least one in this list you want to watch, then well, you clearly have awful taste in tv series. And if you have seen all of them? We need to talk because clearly we have too much time on our hands and could probably use another friend.
Never has binging a Netflix series in Pjs for days on end been more acceptable. Happy binging in isolation!
